Eligibility for South Africa SRD R370

• The applicants should hold residency, citizenship or registered refugee status in South Africa. 
• If someone is waiting to claim the Children Grant then this SRD grant can be claimed for a temporary period. 
• This grant is available for up to 3 months only. 
• Those who are part of a crisis or any disaster then they can claim this grant for shorter assistance. 
• If someone is in a desperate situation then they can’t claim this grant. 
• If someone is unable to be employed for less than 6 months because of their shorter disability or injury then such persons can claim this grant. 
• If a parent does not get financial support for the children’s care from the other parent then the parent who is offering care can claim this support. 
• The main income supporter of the family if died then other members can claim this payment for a shorter period. 
• If the main income supporter of the family is sent to the prison for a shorter period, say less than 6 months then this support can be provided to the other family members. 
• If someone is affected by a disaster and that area is not declared as a disaster area then this support can be provided to such residents. 

Important Note: Usually this support offers Rand 370 per month for a shorter period say 3 months and this benefit can be extended to another 3 months. It means a person can claim this benefit for 6 months only. But sometimes SASSA does not offer cash payments but instead the claimants can get food parcels or vouchers to purchase food items.

For September 2025, SASSA has scheduled the SRD grant payments to be distributed from 24th of September to 30th of September, 2025. The exact date of the payment depends on the ID number and payment method. Most beneficiaries get their cash payments via bank deposits or others can also collect their grant via cash send.
