Eligibility for R2320 SASSA Old Age Grant

To claim this Old Age Grant in South Africa, the residents should meet the following:

• The applicants should hold South Africa residency status, citizenship status, or a refugee status. 
• The applicants should reside in South Africa. 
• The applicants should not get any other social benefit for themselves from SASSA.
• The applicants should not get cared in state institutions. 
• The applicants should be aged 60 or older. 
• The applicants should have lower income and the SASSA provides income limits for this. For single residents, the income should be below Rand 86,280 and for married residents, the combined income should be below Rand 1,72,560.

SASSA Older Person Grant Hike

In April 2025, the Older Person Grant was hiked at Rand 2,310 but as this payment is adjusted twice a year, in October 2025, this grant got Rand 10 increase from Rand 2,310 per month to Rand 2,320. It means qualified beneficiaries can claim a maximum of Rand 2,320 per month if they are aged 60 to 74 years.
