The government of Maharashtra on 28th of July, 2023 officially launched the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana scheme for all the people who are residents of Maharashtra. The benefits under the scheme were expanded by the government of Maharashtra and the expanded scheme came into effect from 1st July, 2024.

The main motive behind the expansion of this scheme was to provide cashless medical benefits to the population of Maharashtra for the diseases that come under the secondary or tertiary categories. Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana

The MJPJAY 2025 works in accordance with the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Both Government of India and Government of Maharashtra share the expenses in the scheme at a percentage of 60% by Government of India while 40% by Government of Maharashtra.

• The candidates are eligible to get 5 lakh health coverage for each family of Maharashtra per year which can be utilised by either 1 one member of the family or all the members .
• Health cover for all citizens of Maharashtra.

• A full time available call centre to solve queries related to the scheme.
• The candidate can apply through a visit to a network hospital.

• In case there is a possibility of a pre-existing disease, this will also be covered under the health insurance starting from day 1.

Eligibility for Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana

• The person applying to the program must be a permanent citizen of Maharashtra.
• The person applying should hold a valid ration card issued by the Maharashtra Civil Services Department and the type of ration card can be Yellow ration card, Annapurna ration card, orange ration card, Antyodaya ration card.
• The income of the family must not be high enough.
• In case the family is not having any ration card but have domicile certificate of Maharashtra, they are also eligible.

Eligibility Categories Under MJPJAY Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana

• Category A- Any ration card out of Yellow ration card, Annapurna ration card, orange ration card or Antyodaya ration card alongwith Ayushman card and ID proof.
• Category B- People having white ration cards and are government or semi-government employees or people who don’t hold a ration card but have a domicile certificate of maharashtra.
• Category C- Students, women and elderlies in government or government approved ashrams or orphanages, old-age homes or Journalists and construction workers.
• Category D- Road accident victims who got affected by the accident and are from outside Maharashtra or India but suffered the accident in the boundaries within Maharashtra.
• Category E- Families from villages of Maharashtra having any one ration card out of Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Priority House Holder (PHH) or Annapurna Yojana.
